"Empowering Voices: Unraveling the Journey of African Migrant Domestic Workers to the Arab World" is an interdisciplinary research project that delves into the experiences of African female domestic workers migrating to Jordan and Lebanon. This study employs a multi-dimensional approach, combining surveys, interviews, and extensive fieldwork in both origin (Kenya, Ethiopia) and destination countries, complemented by workshop consultations and robust team communication. This comprehensive methodology is designed to uncover the complex challenges faced by these workers. The project will involve an in-depth mapping of services related to deployment, legal aspects, and protection, offering crucial visual insights into the migration trajectory. This research promises to offer significant insights into the lives of African migrant domestic workers in the Arab region, contributing to a deeper understanding of their challenges and paving the way for informed interventions and policy recommendations.

is a human rights defender and researcher with over two decades of dedicated expertise in the fields of gender, feminism, and human rights studies. Her deep knowledge in project management, combined with a steadfast commitment to tackling complex issues in labor, development, and humanitarian sectors, has led to substantial contributions in shaping policies and practices. Hammad's work continuously emphasize the empowerment of women and marginalized communities, extending her influence beyond the Arab region to the global stage.
Ms. Kevin Gikonyo Muriuki
is a dedicated human rights advocate with over eight years of experience, specializing in women's rights and empowerment. Her expertise encompasses project management, monitoring, capacity building, and training, particularly in advocacy and policy development. With a strong focus on human rights and protection for women and children, Ms. Muriuki has been an influential trainer for both local and international organizations, fervently dedicating her career to the advancement of women's rights.
Dr. Khalid Suliman
is a highly respected figure in the field of sociology and women’s studies. Currently serving as the Scientific Director at Hakoura for Research and Education Programs, Dr. Suliman has made significant contributions to the understanding and addressing of complex gender and social issues both regionally and globally.
With a deep commitment to promoting human rights, democracy, and civil societies, Dr. Suliman’s scholarly work reflects his profound understanding of civil society issues and the importance of advocating for the rights of individuals.
Dr. Edward Saimon
Bihaga Edward Saimon, serving as the Executive Director of KIOO, is a distinguished professional in social work and community development. Renowned for his profound commitment to empowering vulnerable groups, he brings extensive experience in strategic planning, program management, and fostering community partnerships. Saimon's expertise is particularly notable in understanding the complexities of the African context, especially in issues related to migration and workers' rights. Ms. Tarikawit Fikadu
is a Women Human Rights Defender and a Swedish Institute scholar, presently the Program Director at a leading human rights organization in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Fikadu has been instrumental in various human rights initiatives especially in the fields of women's political participation and domestic violence. A unique strength of Fikadu's approach is her close connection with local communities and women allowing her to tailor her efforts more effectively. Fikadu's dedication and proximity to these communities underscore her role as a pivotal figure in championing human rights and gender equity in Ethiopia.
